About us

Every day, we work hard to make a positive difference to our customers in the FinTech world of payments. And how do we do this? By continuing to innovate at all times and by putting our customers first.

What we do

We process huge numbers of both national and international transactions, including in conjunction with the smart payment solutions we provide. This is what we do. For example, we process all transactions of contactless debit cards, creditcards smartphones and wearables in the public transport in Holland. We have achieved this with Translink and other partners. The ‘Clover’ – a smart payment terminal – is just one example of a product that we are proud of.

The branch of industry we are in is changing rapidly. This is why we as an organisation are also constantly ‘on the move’. We are at the cutting edge of the latest technological developments and ensure that we can utilise these and other commercial opportunities. For our customers, it is essential that paying via their POS (point of sale) terminal or online environment is simple, easy, and fast, as this directly affects how successful they are. EMS plays an essential role in this regard.

Working at EMS

Would you like to work in a diverse, multi-faceted and service-oriented organisation that is constantly on the move? Well, at EMS you will be working with about 130 colleagues from 25 different nationalities. And what it is that connects us all? Our passion for our areas of expertise and the drive we have to give our customers the best possible support. And we do all this in an environment whose watchwords are equivalence, trustworthiness and integrity.

We work in a flat, non-hierarchical organisation. For example, our managers don’t have their own offices – instead, everyone works together in the same workspace. As for information, this is shared actively and broadly, including through a weekly business update that all employees are welcome to attend. Successes? Well, we like to celebrate these together.

Synergy, teambuilding and enjoyment are essential, even when not work-related, which is why EMS organises a social event every month and also hosts a big party at least twice a year. There is also an active staff association that organises a whole host of activities, from skiing trips and cooking workshops to the Saint Nicholas celebration and other activities for the whole family.

Our history

Our history

EMS is the successor to International Card Services (ICS). As soon as the acquisition arm was made independent in 2005, EMS was created, first as a joint venture between ICS and First Data (now known as Fiserv) and later on as a joint venture of Dutch bank ABN AMRO. In 2023 EMS became a part of Fiserv.

Thanks to the knowledge and experience amassed by this major player in the financial world, we are able to deliver the highest-quality payment solutions – including in technological terms – to our customers. As stated above, EMS used to be part of International Card Services, the biggest issuer of credit cards for consumers and businesses in the Netherlands.
